Green Monster Protein Shake

The beautiful green color of this shake comes from Spirulina micro-algae. This algae has a long history of use as food due to its high nutritional value. In my opinion, the taste of Spirulina powder dissolved in water is pretty bed. But in combination with nuts, vanilla flavored protein shake and banana you can barely taste it. Spirulina dried powder is a rich source of B vitamins and dietary minerals, such as iron and manganese. This mico-algae is known for its antioxidant properties. It also has adequate amounts of all essential amino acids.  Spirulina was successfully used by NASA as a dietary supplement for astronauts on space missions. 🙂

Ingredients:

  • 2 scoops of Vanilla whey protein powder
  • Peanuts (dry roasted unsalted), 10 grams
  • Roasted peeled hazelnuts, 10 grams
  • Spirulina powder, 5 grams
  • 1 small banana
  • 1,5 ml of milk or any other beverage (soy milk, oat drink etc)

Grind peanuts and hazelnuts in a food processor. Then blend the nuts together with all other ingredients. Drink and enjoy!
